Joe Chan

Joe Chan began to excel in choral singing and orchestral playing at a young age and had represented Hong Kong in many parts of the world with highly acclaimed performances.  Graduated from St Paul’s College in 1983, Joe further developed his passion for music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong between 1984 and 1988 during when he came first in his class for three consecutive years.  He was the concertmaster of the Chinese University Orchestra from 1985 to1988, and studied music composition with Professor David Gwilt, winning the “Yu Luan Shi Award” for creativity in 1988 with his Piano Trio, as well as other scholarships for his outstanding academic achievements.  He was invited as guest conductor and guest principal by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta after graduation.  In addition, Joe had been the Music Master in St Paul’s Co-educational College for 22 years and has led the choirs and the orchestra to win numerous top prizes in the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival as well as Champion and Gold Medal choirs in various categories in the World Choir Games 2010, 2012 and 2014.  He is currently a conductor and violinist, giving choral and orchestral masterclasses and workshops to local and overseas music bodies, and also the conductor of St Paul’s College Alumni Choir, City University Choir, Music Director of St. Paul’s College Primary School and guest conductor of Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Raymond Fu

Raymond Fu is regarded as one of the most talented choral conductors in Hong Kong.  His meticulous approach to interpretation and strict requirements of discipline enable his choirs to achieve utmost experiences to their fullest potentials.

Graduated in music education from Stirling University, Scotland, Raymond retired from his Alam Mater, St. Paul’s College after 32 years of service as music head in 2013.  He is currently Chairman of the Opera Society of Hong Kong; Music Director of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, Diocese of HK Island; Choirmaster of St. John’s Cathedral and Assessor to the HK Arts Development Council.  In 2009, Raymond was invited as Council Member and Jury of the “World Choir Games”, the biggest choral festival in the world.  Since then, he was among the international jury panel in China, USA, Vietnam and Latvia.

Stephen Lam

Having performed in front of Maestro Zubin Mehta with his high appreciation, Stephen Lam graduated in conducting from the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna in Austria. He is now the music director and conductor of the Ponte Singers and the Ponte Orchestra, bringing various challenging repertoires to Hong Kong audiences. His recent performance includes performing works by Richard Strauss with Radio Symphony Orchestra, Vienna in Musikverein, and conducting in Germany Youth Music Festival 2017, which will be broadcast all over  the nation in Germany.

To date, Stephen has been invited by the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, King’s Philhornomic from London, Opéra Royal de Wallonie of Liège in Belgium, Radom Chamber Orchestra in Poland, Germany Youth Orchestra, Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra and Musica Viva. He has conducted many prominent works including Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, No. 6 and No. 7, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony, and full opera production including Carmen, Die lustige Witwe, Cosi fan tutte, le nozze di Figaro, La Boheme and Falstaff. Being invited as the adjudicator, he participated in Maribor European Grand Prix (Apr 2015) in Slovenia, Czech Music Festival (Jun 2015) in Hradec Kralove. Stephen is also a dedicated educator. He has been regularly invited by the Sichuan Education Bureau as guest lecturer and conductor since 2012. He also led the mixed choir of Good Hope School and St Paul’s College which received several awards in Hong Kong Music Festival.

As an orchestral and choral composer, he was recently commissioned to compose for several film productions. In 2016, he wrote a historical musical “Eastern Odyssey” based on the history of Hong Kong and received very high recommendation from the critics. He is now a member of the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong. He is also an active singer. Being a member of Vienna Singverein and St. Stephen’s Cathedral’s church choir, he has performed many standard classical programmes in collaboration with world-class conductors and musicians. In addition, he also was once the principal violist of the Vienna Youth Philharmonic Orchestra

Stephen started learning violin with Chao Bee-darn at the age of four. He studied at the St Paul’s College, followed by a Bachelor degree of Environmental Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. After graduated from a degree in Master of Arts in Literary and Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong, he determined to pursue his dream and develop his career in conducting.
